Abstract
Armed with the philosophy that although vascular disease is painful its diagnosis should be painless, noninvasive tests have emerged as routind laboratory procedures to provide diagnostic information and follow patients after reconstructive
arterial
surgery. A noninvasive vascular laboratory is now an essential part of the vascular diagnostic service. Simple transcutaneous Doppler, Duplex scan and variant plethysomography are essential equipments in organizing a noninvasive vascular
laboratory. The
examiners have to make a comprehensive interpretation of the anatomical and hemodynamic information for a wide variety of pathological condition provided by the noninvasive vascular examinations. Those physicians and technologists whe are just
beginning
noninvasive vascular examinations must get extensive information concerning examination techniques, normal values and reporting methods for the various types of noninvasive procedures. The purpose of this article is to describe basic knowledge on
noninvasive vascular examinations currently available for the evaluation of patients with vascular diseases.
